had a nail-painting fundraiser for my friend, Melanie, last night! she’s going to Japan this summer for a short term missions trip and we thought it would be a fun way to help support her while she’s there and to get away from our study guides, textbooks, and Word documents to chat for a while before summer. I did a gradient “workshop,” and did some swatches. I love seeing young women come together over polish to love and care for one another!

finals = blog death
I know y’all feel me on this one. I made a list of my final assignments and then wept over it. basically you’ll be seeing mostly swatches from me until the close of this semester (May 11th). whomp. hope you understand!!
in other whomp-worthy news, my camera went all wiggity-whack on me and is not working. SOOO I’m in the market for a new camera that can take sexy pics, specifically on the macro setting. what’s a girl to do?
okay, okay, so I don’t usually like to post swatches, but I have been getting so many compliments on my bubblegum nails! what a fun color for such a not fun time here in the collegiate world. ugh, you feel me? I mean, I’m stoked that there’s only four weeks left, but there are far too many things to accomplish before then! I will just have to paint my way through it.

y’all, I LITERALLY cannot do a tape manicure.
what is the secret? obviously letting the base totallydry, I got that. but then when you are removing the tape, do you wait until that second color is completely dry or do you remove it right away? and is the secret to having the second color not be “pulled” do you have to really beware of how thick the layer is? because honestly, I tried to do one for about the millionth time tonight and I could have drawn straighter nails by hand. I am so sad. and I will never be no NailSide, but I would like to try. haha let me know what I may be doing wrong! what’s the trick?
colorful, Spring flowers inspired by this papers plate! takes me back to this post, one of my first inspirations. the ironic thing is that when I stepped outside onto my porch to photograph this manicure, it had begun snowing. -_- I guess we here in Iowa City are just getting a little hasty for some sunshiney days. and okay, I would love to cite my polishes for you all, but I used a total of 28 polishes for this manicure! but if you’re curious about a particular shade, let me know and I can fill you in. :] hope y’all have had a great weekend!
ladies and (potentially?) gentlemen, I have swatched. I spent a little quality time with each of my 180-some polishes and sampled all of them onto the color-grouped wheels. it was a really fun process! I ended up using sticky-tack and mounting them up on my wall in my nail-painting nook, as I like to call it. I store all of my polishes under the coffee table and sit right there on the floor and paint away! I ended up with this really interesting group of like nudes/peaches/pearls/sheers… very classy, French wheel if you ask me. I was also pretty excited when I realized I had enough teal-like shades that merited their own wheel considering I didn’t feel right putting them with either the blues or the the greens. also, have you every considered the dynamic nature of your brown polishes? I mean, I have my ‘regular’ browns, tans, bronzes, mahoganies, gray-browns… it’s probably my most diverse wheel! ended up kind of just looking like an autumn-pallet. also very cool though! okay, well I just wanted to share my little project with you all. hope you’re ready for your week! it totally just started snowing here in Iowa City… whomp.
